cedilla's homepage

Just a land-page for people that goes way too far into the internet's void.

You'll certainly not find much on this website. You might go see other people from dimension.sh or more generally the tildeverse.

FAQ / Frequently Queued Questions

But who the hell are you ?

I'm a girl from the internet, I think this is the most relevant part.

I've had a lot of pseudonyms over the time. Recently I've dropped some of those for cedilla. Don't overthink my identity.

What do you do ?

Like a lot of people on the internet, I do software engineering and computer mad-scientisty-thingies.

I also do some electronics, mainly digital for devices hacking, but also a little bit of analog for modular-synthesis.

Can I see what you do ?

I don't know, if it's on this website yes, otherwise maybe no. You might find project laying around on the network.

You certainly use some code from me. I've made a few contributions to globally used softwares. In a sense you're certainly already seeing what I do.

Where are you from ?

Internet, I already told you that.

No, really, where in the world are you from ?

Somewhere between (-4.428750, 11.697430) and (67.825233, -115.096550).

You might find an approximate location if you cross-reference with informations in Where can I follow what you do or say ? Socials ? or from the language of some of the ressources / links on this website.

You're not going to give more details about yourself ? Why ?

I don't need to. Writing this answer might already be a lot.

Where can I follow what you do or say ? Socials ?

If you find me on the tildeverse's IRC, my name here is "cedilla".

Also sometimes I post things on the fediverse, via the tildeverse's Mastodon.

So I can contact you from those places ?

If you really wish to contact me, do it the e-mail way : cedilla@dimension.sh. I check check this address for queued messages, so don't worry I will read yours.

Other socials / IM are for ephemeral purpose, nothing more.

Why do you provide a full download of your pages ?

I've been writing for a lot of websites over the years, some of them included informations and details that where useful for a lot of tasks. People wrote scrappers and scripts to get the content of those websites, treating them as databases.

I like the idea of sharing informations and knownledge, even allowing automated lookup in pages with special tools. What I don't like is puting servers and networks on their knees.

A full download, including git history solves this issue. You just need to periodically update the local database and it works just fine (and most of the time with better performances).

So, even if those pages will not contain a lot of things, I tend to allow full-download by default. It's simple to setup and doesn't take much space.

Also it is useful, if for some reasons I need to update the website from a remote location where I don't have my git history.

Could you not instead provide a git repo URL ?

I could, but dimension.sh doesn't have a git module / CGI running on the webserver, and I want the website to be self contained without using external services.

Also, this is a personnal website, not a collective one. So I don't see the point in a having a repository.

git-bundle is already very useful by itself, no need to complicate it further.

License ?

The pages here are licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0, unless explictly specified.

Content of the downloadable bundle is also protected with the same license. It is generally a bad idea to protect software with CC licenses, but I don't really care about the bash scripts for the generation of this website.
